Admissions Process

The first step is most often to visit the school, if possible for the family. This gives you an opportunity to gain further insight into the campus and curriculum, as well as meet some staff and school community. Our admissions representative will also be available to personally address any questions you might have. If you are not yet in the area, a video call can also be scheduled in place of the tour.

If you would like to move forward with the application process once you have been introduced to the school and had initial questions answered, we ask that you fill out our Application Form found here. We also ask you to provide details of your child’s two most recent reports cards to gain a better understanding of their progress so far in education, so please have those ready when you fill out the Application Form. For the youngest pupils, we know that school assessments can often be conversational. Any written feedback that you can share will help us provide the best support for your child.
 

We would like your child to get a better feel for what school is like day-to-day, so we will happily welcome them to a trial day. During this time they get to spend a typical day at school and meet future teachers and classmates. This is a great way to help support their transition into a new school environment.

We ask children entering the school to participate in a placement test. These assessments are to evaluate English and Math skills (as well as science for grades 9 and 10.)  For younger years, a motor skills and social skills assessment is required. When possible, these assessments may be completed in an accredited overseas institution that ensures the MIS assessment requirements are met.

These placement tests help us establish your child’s strengths and learning needs within our curriculum, so that we can best support your child’s educational development. Should any questions or concerns arise from testing, we will discuss these with you personally.

For entrance into our Secondary school, and most importantly acceptance into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, students will need to achieve a B2 level of English, as well as other subject specific skills. For those entering Secondary school who are not at a B2 level, additional language lessons are required until they reach a B2 level. 

The completion of assessments does not determine or guarantee placement in MIS, but is used to provide an indicator of aptitude.

The Admissions Team meets once weekly to review new applicants. The Application Form and School Records MUST be turned in, and the assessment tests taken and scored, before the applicant is reviewed by the team. Following this meeting, you will be notified as to whether it was determined that MIS is a good fit for your child(ren).

Once the Admissions team determines if they are able to offer a place for your child, you will be informed and then emailed a School Contract for review. In the event that there is a waiting list for your grade, we will communicate this earlier in the admissions process, and will keep you informed as spaces open up.

The School Contract will then be sent from our Administration Office. This contract should be reviewed and signed by both parents/legal guardians and initialed on each page. 

Please be aware that at certain times of the year there is a high demand for places, and a delay between place offering and the receipt of the School Contract may be delayed by a few weeks. 

Please note: We are not able to provide an Acceptance Confirmation Letter until the School Contract is complete (for example, for student visa applications.) 

Once the School Contract is complete, you will receive a Welcome Packet via email.
